"Typhoid Mary" Receives Development Workshop at Dundee Rep
James Clements’ last project, “Typhoid Mary,” received a development workshop with the acting company at Dundee Repertory Theatre last week. The play, which tells the story of Irish cook Mary Mallon, who was the first asymptomatic disease carrier identified in the United States in 1907, wrestles with themes of sexism, classism and anti-immigrant rhetoric in times of public health crisis, and has been in development over the last few months. The socially-distanced reading and development workshop provided excellent feedback for Clements to continue re-drafting in the coming months.
